WARIF’s Know Your Community Program, in partnership with the Nigerian Exchange Group sensitized women and girls resident in the Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos on the effects of rape and sexual assault.
The women were taught appropriate responses following incidents of abuse; how to seek medical services at facilities like the WARIF Rape Crisis centre and report cases of rape and sexual abuse to law enforcement agencies.
Present at the program with the WARIF team were; the Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Consultant; Mr. Dayo Adenubi and the Head X-Academy, Nigeria Exchange Group, Ms. Ugochi Obi, who highlighted the importance of being financially Independent and ways to cultivate the habit of always saving, no matter how little, as most cases of violence against women and girls are as a result of survivors being financially dependent on their abusers.
