WARIF Empowerment Program

The WARIF Empowerment Programme seeks to support women in rural areas with Vocational Skills Acquisition, Basic Financial Literacy and information on Preventing and Reporting Gender Based Violence. Skills these women are trained on include millinery, soap making, wig making amongst others.

The WARIF Women’s Empowerment Program was launched to empower vulnerable women and girls with the necessary toolkit to lead successful independent lives, unencumbered by financial dependency and other socio-economic constraints. Vulnerable women and girls are equipped with skills needed to achieve this goal.

The program consists of 3 pillars:
• Advocacy and prevention of Gender-Based Violence
• Vocational Skills Acquisition Program
• Basic Financial Literacy Skills

This initiative was first piloted in 2018 where 120 females benefited from the 2 days training program and were equipped with knowledge and tools that led to economic stability through income-generating skills.

The WEP project is a 2-day awareness and training workshop for vulnerable women and girls between the ages of 18 and 35 years of age and they are sensitized on the issues of Sexual Violence, which aims to:
a. Encourage survivors to speak out and break the culture of silence.
b. Seek help for justice.
c. Access post-incident care services physically and virtually
d. Form a support group to help protect other vulnerable women and girls.
