THE WARIF FOUNDATION PARTICIPATED IN THE OOA FOUNDATION PROGRAM IN ABEOKUTA.

The WARIF foundation on April 26th 2017 participated in the Oladitan Olusegun Adebutu Foundation (OOA Foundation) ”English as a second language” program which was held in Ibefun, Abeokuta.
Age appropriate awareness sessions on Child Abuse, Assault and gender based violence were carried out by highly trained facilitators with vulnerable and orphaned children between the ages of 4-12 years old.
Additional sessions highlighting early detection of child abuse and assault were also carried out with the staff of OOA Foundation, caregivers and guardians.
We assured them of our commitment to their well being and our availability to assist with our services.

At the end of the program, 90% of the beneficiaries indicated that they are more aware of the damage of sexual violence to children.
• The program ensured that 82% of the beneficiaries understood the need to speak out if/when abused
• 50% of the beneficiaries live in one-room apartments with their families. While 35% stay in mini-flats.
• 6-10 persons occupy 45% of theses households.
• 65% of the beneficiaries live in the same household with both parents, 20% live with their mother alone while 15% live with their grandparents.
