Gatekeepers Initiative

The Women at Risk International in partnership with the ACT Foundation launched a project called “The Gatekeepers initiative”.
The 12 months project aims to eradicate gender based violence in the rural areas through Traditional Birth Attendants by training them on how to identity signs of Rape and Sexual Assault within their community, document cases of survivors and refer same to WARIF for medical and psychosocial treatment.
With the assistance of the grant from the ACT Foundation; WARIF has trained 500 TBAs in selected Local Government Areas in Lagos who will champion this cause for the next 1 year.
